Making a mind map

Before I open a word document and start writing my reports, I like to draw mind maps. Why? It’s simple. With a mind map, you can easily draw set of subjects and their main contents. It is a useful and creative tool for getting information out of your brain (, 2017). Mind maps can be used in many cases and situations. As with other diagramming tools, mind maps can be used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing (wikipedia, 2017).

This way, I can at least picture what my report should include and which topics I need to cover.

I’ve been making mind maps since primary school (I think), and I have always found them useful in many cases. If you’ve never done a mind map, or you feel like you lack of creativity, try brainstorming with your friends or colleagues. There are many studies confirming that working in a group can be highly effective, especially when coming up with new and fresh ideas.
